Cityplace West Development

Uptown Dallas Today
The old Mary Shiels buildings on Lemmon  and Howell are slowly being disassembled. Looks like asbestos abatement at this time. The Mary Shiels Hospital is still in operation only these old buildings, along west bound Lemmon, that are no longer in use are being torn down.
These buildings were purchased a few years back by the Cityplace development company . At this time I know of no planned buildings on these lots. I am sure a Bank or CVS will be looking at these prime locations. East bound and West bound Lemmon are very busy almost 24 hours a day. This property sits between both streets and should be a good location for both types of business.
Money has been allocated for Unity Plaza at the DART Cityplace Station. Three million dollars has been put aside from the Cityplace TIF to help build this plaza. DART is supposed to come up with the next two million dollars to complete the funding. A new entry way and street,Cityplace West, realignment and of course the plaza are all planned.
Currently there are no new developments in the West Village area . On the East Side of Cityplace a new Kroger was just approved for the old Loews Theatre vacant lot. This will take at least 18 months to build so do not expect a new store any time soon. The Mc Kinney Ave Trolley expansion begins in early 2010 and should be completed before the Woodall Rodgers Park is completed.
